One of Chevy Chase’s greatest movies, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacationis still a Christmas classic. This 1989 movie features hilarious moments and great one-liners. It also depicts a dysfunctional family who wants to have the perfect Christmas. Add to that the stress of hosting both in-laws, Ellen’s eccentric relative Cousin Eddie and neighbors who hate Christmas and a subscription for the “Jelly of the Month Club”, and this movie will leave you and your friends in tears.
Scrooge
Bill Murray is another great stoner actor. This movie is a comedy version of Charles Dickens’s ” A Christmas Carol“. It delivers amazing slapstick humor as well as some touching moments. This movie will make you laugh so hard that you feel like you are going to burst. You might be inspired to call someone you haven’t spoken to for a while.
Elf
Elfis a classic Christmas movie, no matter how drunk or high you may be. Will Ferrell’s Buddy the Elf is one of his finest roles. Buddy sets out to find his father and earn a place on Santa’s nice lists. Elf spreads Christmas cheer to his friends and family.
Bad Santa
Perfect for stoner movies are dark comedies. Bad Santa features Billy Bob Thornton playing Willie T. Stokes. He is a conman and thief who steals from mall stores each year. When Willie is suspected of being a thief by the mall manager, he assigns his chief of security to investigate Willie’s past. Willie’s plan slows down, but it is a story of redemption that finds its footing. This movie will provide you with an amazing and hilarious stoned Christmas movie experience.
Just Friends
This movie is not considered a Christmas movie by some people. However, it has the classic Christmas movie feel. A 2005 Ryan Reynolds film about Chris Brander, a high school nerd and overweight who confides in Jamie Palamino (Amy Smart) but is then rejected from the friend zone. Now, Chris is a successful record executive and is back home trying to win Jamie’s heart during the holidays. His holiday romance story is hampered by his relationship with Samantha James (Anna Farris), a self-absorbed pop singer. Enjoy this movie with a bowl of soup, a cup of coffee, and a lot of laughter.
Home Alone
Home Alone is a movie that will delight you and your friends if you enjoy dumb, slapstick humor. Macaulay Culkin, a young Macaulay, plays Kevin, an eight-year old troublemaker who is left behind when his family goes on Christmas vacation. Kevin is left alone in his Shermer, Illinois home and must defend it from the two goofy, but well-known, thieves known as the Wet Bandits. Home Alone is a hilarious comedy that incorporates early 90’s humor, some funny home defenses the Wet Bandits have to overcome, and John Candy leading an entertaining Polka Band. You and your friends will be begging for more marijuana and want to watch Home Alone2, an excellent sequel featuring the returning cast.
Christmas with Harold and Kumar
Harold Lee and Kumar Patel are two of the most well-known stoner duos in Hollywood. They were inspired by the holiday scenes in this uninhibited Christmas stoner movie. Harold and Kumar rekindle their friendship after their relationship has become more distant and less important between them. A mysterious package arrives at Kumar’s doorstep. The duo go against their better judgement to replace the prized Christmas tree that Harold’s father-in law had destroyed.
Four Christmases
You can have fun with your friends by watching a Vince Vaughn holiday movie and smoking marijuana. Unmarried couple Brad and Kate (Vince Vaughn), have to split Christmas Day between four family events. Kate starts to question their relationship as Brad keeps counting down the days until it is over. You and your stoned friends will enjoy this movie.
